Sheer door panels

A sheer voile door panel is in my opinion one of those interior décor elements that give a door not only a classique look, but also add that touch of old world humility to it. Some might prefer to think of it as a rustic embellishment but I see them hung up on pretty much every glass door in the Hamptons every summer and they really add a touch of charm not just to your home but your neighborhood as a whole. My grandmother used to love these and writing about them does bring back all the fond memories that I have of her.

Sheer Door Panels

My grandmother is gone now, but we all still need our privacy without sacrificing on all the daylight that we need to keep us healthy. As someone who regularly writes, I find daylight to be an essential part of my daily inspiration however, I am not comfortable throwing open all my windows and doors open for the world to see. Whether you live in a ‘slightly tightly’ built condo in Connecticut like I do or have a sprawling home with a few hundred feet of garden on each side, there are always going to be prying eyes that you need to protect yourself from.

If you have an office at home or generally prefer some quiet time by yourself, you’ll love these sheer door curtains as they’ll allow you to block out the outside world without having to turn on all the bulbs in your home. This is especially useful if you’ve got kids playing outside or still need some environment permanence and a presence around your home. Voile sheer is the material that is traditionally used to make these door panel curtains as they allow the right amount of light to pass through and bathe your room in the desired light with ease.

TIP
You can alter the amount of light that enters a room by simply bunching up the drapes together. If you need more light, just spread the drapes farther off allowing them to bunch at the edges. If you want to decrease the light or diffuse it more than it already is then you can just bunch it up towards the middle.

No matter what style your home has been done up in, a sheer door panel will hold its own whether it is put up in front of something that would make Baroque sweat or if it was something that good old Mark Guard created — a sheer door curtain can adapt and excel.

The biggest hurdle that many people have when it comes to putting up sheer door panels is smoked glass. May say that since they wish to have that kind of privacy they might as well put a set of those up. Many will feel claustrophobic after living in a place like that after a couple of days and besides, there are normal curtains to do that for you already!
