White sheer panels

If you’ve been reading this blog of mine for a long time then you already know about my love for the white sheer curtains. My late grandmother used to have white sheer all over the home. Everything from doilies to door and window curtains were made out of sheer. There was that and then there was croatia cloth. As you can tell ladies, that woman had a major influence on the design choices that I have made over the years and I credit her with my love for all things white.

White Sheer Panels

That said, with a white sheer panel being the de facto second curtain in any home, the topic does merit a lot of discussion. If you’ve decided to go with the white sheer curtain then I must congratulate you since choosing what color your sheer curtains need to be is one of the biggest hurdles that anyone choosing accessories for interior décor comes across. Choosing the color is such a problem that large stores like IKEA have entire sections and a whole army of salespeople dedicated to the job of helping you choose what color you’re going to end up with in the end.

Once that is sorted, there are however some other things that you need to consider when you’re looking to get a pair of white sheer curtain panels. So what are these other things that you need to look into? Well, the material that your sheer panels are made from for starters. The choice of sheer isn’t limited only to voile and lace anymore. You can get everything from traditional khadi to the more stylish silk.

When used by themselves thee fabrics add warm yet diffused light to your home and unlike their colored brethren they don’t end up casting a shade of whatever color the curtain has been made out of and you can get al the privacy that you want without having to compromise on light and your home’s interior décor.

What are the fabric choices that I’ve got?
A bullet list serves to answer this question in the best possible way.

  • Voile
  • Lace
  • Chiffon
  • Tulle
  • Batiste

Other than that there are a bunch of different weaving styles that can be ordered. I personally prefer my sheer curtains in voile, weaved in straight lines which makes them pretty generic and something that I can pair with pretty much any curtain or drapery that crosses my path. You can also match white sheer curtains with jewel colored or earthly tones if you want to keep the whole look alive.
